"El Capitan (or something to that effect) cannot be run on this computer"Ĭan you make a bootable USB install disc of an older os on a newer machine? Any help here would be greatly appreciated. When I try to run the package I get the message. I then tried to create a bootable USB install disc for El Capitan on my MacBook Pro (Catalina or Mojave) I can't remember if I upgraded or not and don't have access to the laptop right now to check. "OSX could not be installed on your computer. I gave up on Snow Leopard and decided to install El Capitan online, but got the error. I tried resetting the date/time back in terminal a few times, but still got the same error. ![]() "The installer could not copy the necessary support files". When I tried to re-install Snow Leopard I get the error message. I didn't know macOS recovery was a thing and erased the hard drive from the DU on the Snow Leopard disc. ![]() ![]() I have an early 2009 imac and wanted to do a clean re-install of Snow Leopard from the disc that shipped with the my mac. ![]()
